October 29, 2008 – The Georgia Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) has discontinued its Financial Customer Service Unit and is no longer handling “Non IV-D” cases.
Red Ribbon Substance Abuse Campaign kicks off at Centennial Olympic Park
October 24, 2008 - The Georgia Department of Human Resources Division of Public Health announced the statewide kick-off for Georgia’s Red Ribbon Campaign on Tuesday, October 21 at Centennial Olympic Park in downtown Atlanta. The kick-off event marked the beginning of the Governor’s Red Ribbon activities in Georgia.
Parents should watch for candy containing melamine or lead
October 31, 2008 – The Department of Human Resources, Division of Public Health is asking parents to ensure that children do not have any White Rabbit Creamy Candies or Koala’s brand candies that have been recalled for melamine contamination.
HIV Community Planning Group to meet in Savannah
October 17, 2008 – Community members will get an opportunity to offer input on the development of the statewide, comprehensive plan for the prevention of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) during an upcoming meeting in Savannah. The Georgia Community Planning Group (GCPG) for Prevention will continue discussions on the development of its prevention plan at its next quarterly meeting on November 17-18 at 9:00 a.m. The meeting will take place at the Hyatt Regency Savannah located at 2 West Bay Street, in Savannah, Georgia.
GeorgiaCares helps beneficiaries review drug plan options for 2009
October 10, 2008 – The GeorgiaCares State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) is helping Medicare recipients make informed decisions about which prescription drug and Advantage plan options are best for them. Medicare Part D Open Enrollment begins November 15, which means recipients h ave until December 31, 2008, to make their choices. With so many options available, choosing the right one is important.
DHR Energy Assistance Program helps Georgians with their home heating bills
October 17, 2008 – As the colder winter months approach, the Georgia Department of Human Resources (DHR) will once again help Georgians struggling to keep up with the cost of heating their homes. DHR’s Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has received approximately $74.5 million dollars in federal funds to assist low-income, elderly and disabled Georgians with their heating bills.
